Dr. B.R. Ambedkar wanted to excel in the field of business for the economic empowerment of SCs and STs.

"Educate, Organize,Agitate"

Ambedkar believed that without economic strength, political and social freedom is incomplete. He said: "We must have our own industries. We must become employers, not just employees." He emphasized that SC-STs should not remain dependent on upper-caste employers or the government but should strive to become owners of capital.

He believed that economic independence was crucial for the social and political empowerment of marginalized communities.

"Knowledge is the foundation of progress."

He wanted SC-STs to move from being only labourers or wage workers to becoming entrepreneurs, industrialists, and business people. This would give them economic independence and bargaining power. "The progress of the Depressed Classes lies in education, organization, and economic upliftment."

He believed that economic independence was crucial for the social and political empowerment of marginalized communities.

"Life should be great rather than long."

Ambedkar encouraged the formation of cooperative societies, small-scale industries, and collective enterprises among SC-STs. He envisioned Dalit-owned enterprises as tools of economic transformation.

Ambedkar emphasized the importance of quality of life over its duration. He believed that a meaningful life, filled with dignity and purpose, was more valuable than a long life spent in oppression.

He advocated for the rights and upliftment of marginalized communities, urging them to strive for a life of dignity and self-respect.

"Knowledge is the foundation of progress."

He discouraged SC-STs from continuing traditional caste-based occupations like manual scavenging or leather work (unless they chose it freely and modernized it). He wanted them to break free from caste restrictions and explore modern industries and professions.

He wanted SC-STs to move from being only labourers or wage workers to becoming entrepreneurs, industrialists, and business people. This would give them economic independence and bargaining power.

He believed that economic independence was crucial for the social and political empowerment of marginalized communities.

"Freedom of mind is the real freedom".

State Support for SC-STs Entrepreneurs Ambedkar believed the State should provide financial aid, land, and training to support SC-STs entrepreneurs and industrialists. He argued that affirmative action must extend beyond jobs to capital and enterprise.

Ambedkar dedicated his life to fighting for the equality and rights of the Dalits and other downtrodden communities, a crucial aspect of his vision for a free India.

He emphasized the importance of mental liberation and self-awareness in achieving true freedom.

"We must stand on our legs. We must depend on our strength. The best way to do so is through education."

His long-term vision was to create a self-reliant, economically independent SC-ST class, not only uplifted socially but also respected as wealth creators and contributors to national developmenti

President's Message

It is with immense pride and a deep sense of responsibility that I extend my warmest greetings to all members, partners, and well-wishers of the Telangana SC/ST Industrial Chamber of Commerce (TSICC).

TSICC was founded with a singular mission — to empower SC/ST entrepreneurs and foster inclusive, sustainable industrial growth across Telangana. We firmly believe that economic empowerment is the cornerstone of social justice, and that entrepreneurship is the most powerful vehicle for lasting change within our communities.

Through focused efforts in skill development, mentorship, financial facilitation, market access, and policy advocacy, TSICC is building a robust support ecosystem for SC/ST entrepreneurs. Our vision is to see our members not just as participants in the economy, but as leaders, innovators, and catalysts for transformation.

As we look ahead, I call upon all aspiring and established entrepreneurs to join us in this journey. Let us work together to create a self-reliant, equitable, and progressive Telangana where every individual, regardless of background, has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

Jai Bhim! Jai Telangana!

The Need for SC-ST Women to Enter the Business Sector

Financial independence is key to dignity: At a time when traditional gender roles were strictly enforced, Ambedkar urged women to work, earn, and make decisions for themselves and their families. He stated that "true dignity comes not from independence, but from self-respect earned through struggle and assertion".

Triple Marginalization:

Caste, Class, and Gender SC-ST women are among the most oppressed groups in India. Caste discrimination pushes them to the lowest rungs of society. Poverty and lack of resources limit their opportunities. Gender bias restricts their mobility and independence. Business and entrepreneurship can help them break these chains and become economically and socially self-reliant.

Economic Empowerment:

Social Dignity Owning a business gives financial freedom and increases social status. No longer dependent on upper castes or male family members. Gains respect within the community and outside. Helps them escape exploitative labor like domestic work or manual scavenging. A financially empowered SC-ST woman can assert her rights and lead others by example.

Entrepreneurship as Resistance

Starting a business is an act of resistance to the caste system. It challenges the stereotype that SC-STs should only do "dirty" or "lowly" jobs. It creates new identities — as leaders, creators, and decision-makers. Business becomes a platform for social change and empowerment also path to reclaim dignity and Identity.

Role Models and Community Transformation:

When SC-ST women succeed in business, they become role models for others. Inspire young girls in the community to dream big. Can mentor and train other SC-ST women. Help form women-led cooperatives and collectives. One woman's success can spark a ripple effect of change.

Breaking Economic Dependency:

Many SC-ST women are sole breadwinners or part of families with unstable incomes. Running a business allows them to diversify income and stabilize family finances. Can invest in children's education, health, and housing. Entrepreneurship helps build intergenerational change in SC-ST families.

Untapped Market and Government Support:

There is increasing government support for women entrepreneurs: Stand-Up India, MUDRA loans, NRLM, and SC-ST Vikas Yojanas provide funding. NGOs and private sector also offer training, mentorship, and market access. SC-ST women must be encouraged to use these schemes to build their enterprises.

Cultural and Local Knowledge:

SC-ST women often have skills in: Handicrafts, weaving, food processing, natural products, agriculture, etc. With training and marketing, these traditional skills can become profitable businesses.
